Hello everyone how can i find out the photographer Who has comentado on mi photo of curarte?, i would like to se their photographs, to be able to evaluaremos their comments ,greetings
It seems to me that the curation process is not public. If you curate you can just thumb up or down, anonomously. If you make a comment, which I think you should, in general, you would help the photographer with your opinion. There is also "Critique" and the Forum Critique. The forum seems to have "Senior" WETMs critics, and they will engage with you with their name and you can find their 1x portfolios. The other critique is more loose and critiques come up annonymously but if you engage the author might reply and you might find them. I agree that if you get a commnent, there is no knowing if it is from someone who "gets" what you are trying to do.
I think that if you are trying to "judge" someone elses work it is important to see if you can figure out what they are trying to do, if your experience allows you to figure it out. I don't do Bird photography but I can guess or intuit what the Bird photographer is trying to do, or so I think. But maybe they would rather have another Bird Photographer judge their work. On the other hand the non-bird photographer might have an unbiased view that would be helpful as well.
Interesting process, yeah?
I think that the comentaries should not be anonymus
Juan, I found that I did comment on one of your (published) photos by looking at your portfolio. I gave an interpretation of your work, which I quite liked, and I hope it lined up with your intention. I have made comments on others that I hoped would be helpful. If I send an image to be viewed, I would want to know: what did others make of it? how was it interpreted? was there something wrong that I could correct? Was it Interesting or just not really interesting? (the key piece of information since you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear! So just forget-about-it)
Is it just a useless image (but technically well made) that looks like all the others? Nobody says that but it would be both the most useful to the artist and the most detrimental to the platform. If everyone was self-conscious and not convinced that their image was unique and beautiful then maybe nobody would submit, and Poof! We must all be conscious of the fact that only a few of our images are spectacular, but the few that are, are recognized so we can know it too. In other words seeing with other people's eyes.
Curation is anonymous so the curator can be honest at least on the first glance. I would like the curator to opine why they voted but that is very time consuming. Re-submitting to Critique section gives the artist a more careful review.
I am not sending much in nowadays. I am critical of some of the choices that are not unique and often repetitious or equal to a previous published image. (your images are quite varied). I keep saying "I've seen that image before" WTF? On the other hand the images chosen may be those that sell well. If that is the case, I have no argument as that is a strong arbiter of merit. Just Sayin'.
Found this interesting YouTube Video for those interested in Art Photography or Fine Art Photography:

I thought his description of Art and Art Photography was good. But I got a lot of other videos of his in my list by algorithm so I guess he is selling something too. I didn't check his credits. Still seems a good video.
William,
Thank you for the link. The video was 40 minutes long - that's longer than my attention span - but I watched it right through and even re-watched parts to make sure I was understanding it. What I learned was invaluable - I learned that I am not a Fine Art Photographer or an Artist. This revelation frees me up to take the kind of pictures I like without worrying about their value as art, or about having them judged. Feels good!
